Rachel to run for W. Java deputy governor

JAKARTA: Actress-turned-politician Rachel Maryam says she has registered to compete in the West Java deputy governor’s race next year.

She said her running for political office is part of her support for the governor hopefuls.

“The names of the governor candidates are already there and I think those names have credibility,” she said after obtaining the registration form on Monday in Bandung, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Rachel added that she had the support of West Bandung regency and Bandung regency, as well as from parts of Ciamis and Tasikmalaya.
